Hi! Big news: I've got a job in your city and I'm moving there next month! I don't know anybody, so I'm a bit nervous. Which part of town do you think I should live in? And how can I meet people when I get there? Alex
Reply to Alex's message. In your email, recommend an area to live in and explain why, and give some advice on how to meet people. Write between 90 and 110 words.

Hi Alex,
That's fantastic news – congratulations! You'll love it here.
If I were you, I'd look for a flat in the old town. It's a bit more expensive than other areas, but it's full of cafés and small shops, and you can walk almost everywhere, so you won't need a car.
As for meeting people, why don't you join a sports club or an evening class? That's how I made most of my friends. There's also a language exchange every Thursday in a bar near the cathedral, which is very popular.
And of course, you can count on me. Let me know when you arrive!
Love,
Maite

- how people would travel to the centre
- what has happened in other towns or cities

Closing the city centre to cars at weekends
Our council is now considering closing the town centre to cars at weekends. In my opinion, this would be a positive change, as long as it is well planned.
The main benefit would be for the people who live in the centre. Without cars, the streets would be quieter and the air would be cleaner, and children could play safely in squares that are now used as car parks. Families from other areas would also visit more.
Some shop owners are worried that they will lose customers who usually come by car. This is an understandable concern, but experience in other cities suggests the opposite. When streets become pedestrian areas, people tend to walk more slowly, stop more often and spend more money in local shops and cafés.
However, the plan will only work if people have other ways to get to the centre. The council would need to increase the number of buses at weekends and provide car parks on the edge of town, with cheap or free connections to the centre.
To sum up, I believe that closing the centre to cars at weekends would make our town a more pleasant place to live, provided that public transport is improved at the same time.
Introducción con tu postura, un párrafo por idea con ejemplos y una conclusión. Vale el doble que la tarea 1.

Hi Sam,
Yesterday the teacher gave us the results of a survey about how students get to college. The bus is the most popular option, followed by the car, while very few people cycle. The main reason students give for not cycling is that there are no safe bike lanes, although quite a few also think college is too far away. Interestingly, most of those who don't cycle say they would start if safer lanes were built.
See you tomorrow,
Nerea
